The schools are open again. This means that our After Care Programme has started as well. A lot of happy kids were on our stoep waiting to get in on the first day!
The Blikkies Band is still going strong! Invited to perform often and getting better each time. Their fine blend of music and dance gets the crowd cheering time and again.
Our annual January holiday camp is just over. Twenty two youngsters being sad that the fun at our farmhouse has ended. And fun we had!
It was the time of the year again, the time to receive presents from Father Christmas. A lot of anticipation was to be seen on the young faces. Some children waited eagerly for two hours to catch a glimpse of Father Christmas, who this year came from Holland. When he finally arrived, the children got to meet him and receive their presents.
Thankfully Father Christmas did not disappoint and a lot of happy faces were there as a result! Now it’s time to play!

When last we wrote (09.03.14) we were fast running out of funds and in fact soon after we called in our builder and asked him to inform our workers that we would be shutting down the site at the end of the week. The walls were up but the roof wasn’t on yet, the floors not laid, the doors weren’t hung, the windows weren’t glazed.
But in this depressing situation some wonderful people stepped forward to help. Carmel and Michael Chanarin and Brian Wides and family again gave generously, Jenny Parsons, Rebecca Spence, Chris Beer, Rene Weinum, EDSA, Geoff Budlender and Anne Page all came forward, the latter two for the second time.
Then we took a big step forward when the King Baudouin Foundation in Belgium awarded a magnificent R93 600. Meanwhile, in Canterbury, long-time Net vir Pret friend Marion Barton held a fundraising event at her home which brought in funds to pay for the interior staircase linking the two floors.
All this support saved the day. We are delighted to report that thanks to you the roof is on, the doors hung, the windows glazed, the staircase built, the plumbing and electrics in place and soon the new Net vir Pret will start taking shape.
We are presently putting final touches to the building; skirting, flashing, fascia boards, painting, sanding, varnishing. Peter Simon has kindly provided warm and durable carpet tiles for the upper floor and will bring wooden flooring for the bottom when we’re ready.
The truth is that we have once more run out of cash but feel we can’t stop now; so we are borrowing from other funds to finish in the hope that we will be able to restore these later.
